Factory Automation

The industry is on the verge of experiencing the fourth industrial revolution. The digitalization of production is being followed by automation. The goal is to boost productivity, efficiency, speed, and quality, resulting in increased competitiveness for businesses on their route to the industry’s future.

Load cells are widely used in factory automation materials handling. Load cells are required in all components of industrial production to monitor and report data back to the control centre in order to intervene in time when aberrant nodes arise and ensure that industrial production continues normally.

Load cells for factory automation and equipment are frequently used to conduct specialised activities or processes that necessitate the use of customised solutions. Sensomatic works with manufacturing leaders to build solutions that solve their industrial automation difficulties, drawing on more than 18 years of experience in load cell design and other force measurement technologies combined with IoT.

We manufacture and export load cells for factory automation. These load cells provide total environmental protection and are simple to install. Most suitable in Factory Automation Systems and Multiple Load Cell Applications for complex operation.

On the basis of the client’s specifications, we may provide bespoke solutions for our range right from Machine shop to production floor.

For several factory automation applications, a load cell is used:

Commercial Food Processing

When food is weighted and processed down the belt, a food processing facility expects reliable data from its in-motion check weigher. They want to ensure that the production line flows efficiently and that the food is of high quality and right quality. The customer also demands real-time weighing findings and a load cell that can withstand the sterile environment of the food industry.

At the particular points where the food is weighed on the belt, Sensomatic High Speed Load Cells can be fitted in the customer’s in-motion check weigher. Precision weighing is ensured by High Speed Load Cells. When used in conjunction with the Weight Indicator and Controller, the client will receive real-time weight results for the food being processed. The Weight Indicator and Controller can display up to four scale channels in real time or more, as in multi packaging machine.

Chemical Reaction-Mixing

A final product is created by combining numerous raw components in a mixing tank. The ingredients must be properly blended without being under or overmixed because the consumer wants to assure product quality and safety. To accomplish so, the mixture’s density and viscosity must be continuously monitored throughout the mixing process.

To measure mixing torque, connect the mixing motor to a hollow flange reaction torque transducer. Customers can use torque measurements to estimate appropriate density and viscosity, allowing them to keep track of component mixing and maintain product quality and safety. The Torque Sensor is installed between the mixing motor and the tank lid on an adapter plate. The torque is measured by the sensor, which sends the data to the Weight Indicator and Controller. The mixing speed and duration can be controlled. Load cells are also used in reactor, Hopper, silo weighing applications and pharmaceutical equipment for precise measurement of chemicals.

Tablet Presses

The Sensomatic high accuracy measuring load cell is used to monitor the pressure within the dies of tablet presses, providing great precision and reliability.

Container Filling

Load cells from Sensomatic are suitable for applications such as industrial automation container filling and/or weighing. On an automation line, a force sensor is utilised to monitor equal distribution through automation load cells. A load cell, together with particular equipment, has been fitted to ensure that equal quantities of a product are dispensed into each box.

To keep track of the weight of each load released into each box, the load cell is connected to the hanging distribution container. After the upper conveyor belt has distributed enough product into the distribution container, the instrument connected to the load cell will trigger a relay, enabling the upper conveyor belt to halt. Another relay is immediately triggered, allowing the contents of the hanging distribution container to fill the box below. When the distribution container’s gates close, the upper conveyor begins to move, allowing the automated operation to resume.

Robotic Arms

Sensomatic products have been used in a manufacturer environment, for a robotic arm in a packaging plant. The customer wanted to know how much force and torque the arm exerts when lifting and lowering objects. They needed to make sure the robotic arm is in good working order so it could complete the task fast and accurate.

We built a custom solution using our Load Cell, which was placed at the robotic arm’s wrist. The Load Cell can be used to measure all forces and torques. The findings of this load cell were displayed, logged, and graphed using an 8-Channel Data Acquisition System and Amplifier with Software

Candy Stamp Force Testing

Hardshell candy manufacturers frequently print text or logos on the candy shells. The candy shell will be broken if you stamp too forcefully. If you stamp too lightly, you’ll get an uneven or partial imprint. Under the test setup, a hard shell candy is placed in support.

A Sensomatic Load Cell is placed between the hydraulic actuator and the candy to be tested. The candy’s resistance bends the sealed load cell’s bottom, while the hydraulic actuator bends the top with applied force. Strain gauges translate the applied force to an electrical signal when the two ends of the load compresses toward the center. Electrical signals are transferred to a high-resolution data logger, where they are displayed in-lbs. The force profile is displayed when the load is applied through a USB connection to a laptop running the supplied graphical software. The test engineer keeps applying hydraulic force to the shell until it cracks.
